Keoki, Kauai’s favorite craft beer, has a new owner: Hawai’i Nui Brewing Company, LLC, purchased the Lihue-based Keoki Brewing Company on May 1, 2007

Leading the professional and experienced Hawai’i Nui Brewing management team are Keith Kinsey, president, and Andy Baker, vice president of sales, with a combined Hawaii beer industry record of over 25 years.

“Since 1998, Keoki Gold Golden Ale and Keoki Sunset Amber Ale have been Kauai’s best kept secrets, quietly establishing a tradition of high quality, locally produced craft beer,” said Kinsey. “We hope to honor that tradition, keeping our roots in the Hawaiian Islands while extending our reach across the Pacific.”

Hawai’i Nui Brewing plans to continue producing the popular Keoki Kauai Gold Golden Ale and Keoki Sunset Amber Ale, as well as several specialty brews for Island hotels and Japanese exports. Keoki bottled beers will continue to be available at local stores and on tap at the finest restaurants and pubs throughout the Islands.

Brewer Matt Hall will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Kauai brewing facility.

“We feel a great responsibility to sustain the consistently high quality of the Keoki beers, while creating new brews to broaden our appeal,” said Hall. “We want to capture a moment of our Kauai paradise and share it with the world.”

Hand-crafted for an Island lifestyle, Keoki is the perfect complement to a warm, breezy day in Hawaii. After a sunny day at Barking Sands beach or hiking at Waimea Canyon, cool off with the clean, crisp taste of Keoki Kauai Gold Golden Ale. Its refreshing, light taste deliciously accompanies Hawaii’s fresh fish and produce without overpowering. Kicking back with music on the lanai? Enjoy the balanced full-bodied richness of Keoki Sunset Amber Ale, made to pair with Hawaii’s spicy, fragrant, multi-ethnic cuisines. Keoki brews Kauai’s favorite craft beer.

Island Style

Keith and I were talking about local beer for local tastes. Something truly Island Style. Island style ales and lagers with a local sensibility and sense of place. Taking advantage of the unique water here in Hawai’i. The high mineral content promotes a lively fermentation that releases delicate floral esters. We could hand craft beers and ales that are perfect for the local weather and lifestyle. -Andy

My Hawai’ian story began on the island of Montreal in 1965. Forty years later, I’m beginning to understand Hawai’ian time. When the time is right, the right things happen. -Nina
